BackgroundEdit

While Professional Griefers has only recently been released as a single, followers of deadmau5 have experienced the song in various different forms before. Around summer 2011, a song called 'Deer Bus' found its way onto the internet. 'Deer Bus' was a working title for the very early stage of the song now known as Professional Griefers. Following 'Deer Bus' came a slightly different mix, which deadmau5 called 'Expert Griefers'. The next version of the song was the instrumental version of Professional Griefers, which deadmau5 premiered at Lollapalooza. Following this, deadmau5 played the instrumental version of Professional Griefers during his Meowingtons Hax Tour, alongside something he called his Expert Griefing Machine. The song was commonly played with sections of Daft Punk's 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger' while touring. After nearly a year of work, deadmau5 revealed through playing the new Professional Griefers during a livestreaming session that the song now featured vocals, which fans of My Chemical Romance pointed out as Gerard Way's vocals.
